Aberdeen Officials OK Prepayment Of 2018 Taxes

Aberdeen Joins a series of other Monmouth County towns in allowing early payment of 2018 taxes in advance of new federal tax law limits.

ABERDEEN, NJ - Township officials have joined Red Bank and Marlboro officials who in recent days have indicated property owners who may be adversely affected by the so-called tax reform recently adopted in Washington, D.C. can prepay their 2018 taxes and thus be spared new limits on deductions.

According to a notice on the township Facebook page, "as a result of the new federal tax law that will cap property tax deductions at $10,000 for 2018, the Aberdeen Town Council wants you to know that Aberdeen Township will accept any prepayment of your 2018 property taxes."

Payments must be received in the township's Tax Collector's office by Dec. 28 and will be posted to the property owner's property tax account in 2017.

Aberdeen also will maintain a 24-hour drop window outside the Municipal Building. The last day to use the drop-off window is Dec 27 and those using the window or paying in person should remember to include their block and lot numbers on their checks.

However, Mayor Fred Tagliarini notes, Aberdeen is not giving any financial advice and if property owners have any concerns or reservations about the implications of the new tax law, they should seek out the opinions of their financial advisors.
