In The Early Hours, Aberdeen PD Charge 4 In Connection To Car Burglaries

The four men who are alleged to have been involved are locals aged 18 and 19 years old.

Around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, a resident on Faith Lane was alerted to the sound of a car alarm going off and called Aberdeen Police.

When police arrived, they noted the rear passenger window of a Ford Explorer was smashed and a $10 wallet containing $40 was gone, according to the owner. A Jeep Cherokee's headlights and roof lights were damaged, and a $75 backpack with an iPod inside was missing, according to a different owner.

About 90 minutes later, police were called to Andover Lane on the report of a fight, where they found four young men who had previously been identified as possible suspects in the car burglaries by the homeowners who knew them. After their on-scene investigation, police arrested the men and took them into custody.

Arrested were:

Justin D. Pimentel, 19, of Ravine Drive in Matawan, who was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit the three crimes by aiding three others -- a disorderly persons offense.

Brian T. Maroney, 18, of Bellevue Avenue in Matawan was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and conspiracy.

Almir Ljaljic, 18, of Andover Lane in Aberdeen was charged with a burglary, theft, criminal mischief and conspiracy.

Christopher J. Allen, 18, of Malden Drive in the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen was charged burglary, theft, criminal mischief and conspiracy.

Bail for each of the men was set for $17,000. As of Sunday evening, Pimentel and Ljaljic had been released from the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.

Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers said the investigation is still ongoing in the case.
