Aberdeen Police Investigated Theft Of Packages, Possible Car Scam
Aberdeen's Police Blotter from Dec. 13 thru Dec. 20 include arrests for marijuana, thefts of packages and a possible scam involving a car.

ABERDEEN, NJ - Police report two recent incidents in which packages at the front door of residences were either taken or entered into and the contents were taken. Police throughout the region have been warning of this trend, which seems particularly active during the holiday season when the likelihood of packages increases in front of homes where occupants are away at work.
On Dec. 13, a Randall Way resident reported the theft of a package containing software from his front door and one day later, a Deptford Court resident reported the theft of a package containing electronics from his front door. Patrol Officer Gus Grivas took the report in both cases.
According to Police Chief John T. Powers, his officers responded to or initiated 280 calls for service between Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, including 19 suspicious persons/vehicles; 24 alarms; 23 first aid calls; five domestic-violence incidents, seven noise complaints, two disorderly persons, 12 motor-vehicle crashes, four thefts, two frauds, four welfare checks, one crisis intervention call and 32 motor vehicle stops. Officers issued 42 motor- vehicle summonses.
Police activity included:
A 32-year-old township man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following an investigation on Woodmere Drive on Dec. 13. Patrol Officer Bruce Monro was the arresting officer.
- A 26-year-old Garwood man was arrested on a contempt warrant out of Aberdeen Municipal Court on Dec. 13. Special Officer Michael Rzigalinski was the arresting officer.
- On Dec. 16, a 25-year-old township man was charged with simple assault following an incident at the Apartments at Aberdeen Station on Central Ave. Patrol Officer Matthew McDow was the arresting officer.
- A 26-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested on a non-support warrant out of Union County Superior Court and a contempt warrant out of New Brunswick Municipal Curt following a Dec. 17 motor-vehicle stop on Keyport Avenue. Patrol Officer Raymond Campbell was the arresting officer.
- A 36-year-old township man was arrested on contempt warrants out of Aberdeen and Brielle municipal courts on Dec. 18. Det. Anthony Valentino was the arresting officer.
- On Dec. 13, a resident of Chelsea Village, Cross Road., reported that he attempted to purchase a car on Craigslist and the seller instructed him to buy Ebay gift cards in the amount of the purchase price and email photos of the gift cards back to the seller. No confirmation of the transaction was received and the gift cards were redeemed. Patrol Officer Edgar Serrano took the report.
