Aberdeen Postpones Fireworks To Sept. 26, Aberdeen Day
They had to cancel their July 2 show due to ongoing COVID concerns, but now plan to hold the fireworks to cap off Aberdeen Day in September.
ABERDEEN, NJ — Aberdeen Twp. announced Wednesday the town made the decision to postpone its annual Independence Day fireworks to Saturday, Sept. 26 this year, the same date as Aberdeen Day festivities.
Fireworks would have been held July 2, but are not possible this summer due to COVID concerns, said Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini.
Aberdeen Day is an annual town-wide celebration, scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 26. As long as state rules on large gatherings permit it, the day will end with a big fireworks show, Tagliarini promised.

“The decision to postpone our annual fireworks show from July 2 to September 26 was difficult. But given the popularity of this event and the governor’s current order regarding outdoor crowd sizes, we didn’t want to have to turn people away,” said Mayor Tagliarini. “We’re hopeful that by the time late-September rolls around, outdoor attendance limits will be considerably higher, allowing us to safely cap off Aberdeen Day’s daytime events with a spectacular show that all can see.”
Aberdeen officials are currently working out the details for the town's other popular summer events. Stay tuned to Patch for info.
