Aberdeen Residents Do Cliffwood Beach Clean-Up
More than 100 Aberdeen residents, including the mayor, Girl Scout troop, BOE members and police officers, volunteered to clean the beach.
ABERDEEN, NJ — More than 100 Aberdeen residents volunteered their time this past weekend to clean up the Cliffwood Beach area.
The volunteers were out on a still-chilly and windy April Saturday, removing trash, broken glass, plastic, tree branches and other debris from Cliffwood Beach.
Aberdeen Twp. residents removed hundreds of pounds of trash from the beach, said Aberdeen town spokesman John Roman. Dry Master Restorations Inc. of Old Bridge was the local sponsor of Aberdeen's Beach Sweep site.

This coincided with Clean Ocean's Action Beach Sweep, where volunteers clean up beaches in more than 60 locations along the Jersey Shore twice a year. In this article, Patch wrote about what Clean Ocean Action found on Jersey beaches in their Beach Sweep this past October, when volunteers removed more than 1,100 masks and plastic gloves littering NJ beaches, as well as:
- Sanitary wipes
- A bong
- A check for $81
- A foam tombstone
- A religious statue
- A New Orleans Saints flag with a pole from a boat
- A Trump 2020 flag
- A wooden pig head
- Plus, bras, bathing suits, a yarmulke, a pregnancy test, a Fitbit, an iPhone, and LG computer monitor, Juul pods and vape cartridges — all picked up on New Jersey beaches.
