ABERDEEN, NJ — Aberdeen's very popular spray park will be closed on Friday, June 28 due to someone defecating in the water park, Aberdeen Township announced in a Nixle alert Friday.

"Due to someone defecating in the spray park area late yesterday, the Spray Park at Veterans Memorial Park has been closed today," the Township said in a statement Friday morning. "We are required by law to close for 24 hours. It will reopen tomorrow."

The spray park is located at Veterans Memorial Park in Cliffwood Beach. The spray park first opened in August of 2017, and is very popular in the area, attracting families from Aberdeen, Matawan, Hazlet and Middletown. It features a pirate ship-themed spray park and a pirate and tall ship-themed playground — all located near a picnic grove with shade structures and a kayak launch into Raritan Bay.
