More than 30 vendors have signed up to participate from Aberdeen and surrounding communities representing the medical, dental, physical therapy, behavioral health and exercise fields, along with social service organizations and merchants who carry health products. Representatives from Aberdeen’s police, fire, CERT, first aid and public works departments and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department will also be on hand.
Coordinated by the Economic Business Council, Township Council, Matawan Regional High School, Monmouth County Health Department and Hackensack Meridian Health, the free family event will give attendees an opportunity to meet with an array of healthcare providers from Aberdeen and nearby towns. Free screenings will be offered for blood pressure, pulse, glucose, Body Mass Index (BMI) and cholesterol, stroke and vision testing.

The event will also feature free food samplings, cooking demonstrations, and activities for children, including a Touch A Truck area with police cars and fire engines. The Sheriff’s department will be doing free fingerprinting for kids and senior citizens. In addition, Star Car Exhibits will present a display of vehicles from famous movies and television shows.
“A health fair can help educate residents on the ways that they can better maintain their health as well as improve access to healthcare by connecting patients and providers,” said EBC member Dr. Leonard J. Somarriba DPT, CSCS, who helped coordinate the family-friendly event. “Aberdeen’s health fair will combine the traditional screening elements found at other events along with cooking demonstrations, free healthy food samplings and attractions for attendees of all ages including children because you’re never too young to start living a healthy lifestyle.”
