Changes Coming for Matawan Park
A new baseball field, dugouts and a new soccer field will be built at Gravelly Brook Park

Matawan, NJ - A long-neglected Matawan park is about to undergo major renovations.
A new baseball field, dugouts and a new soccer field will be built at Gravelly Brook Park, Matawan mayor Joe Altomonte told the Asbury Park Press. New grass will be planted, as well.
The storage building will be demolished. In February, Gravelly Brook was approved for a $528,000 facelift by the borough council.

Mayor Altomonte said he would like to see Matawan's rec and travel leagues use the new fields once they are done. Future plans include possibly installing a basketball court and a concession stand, but the town will ask for the public's input at some point on what they want to see at the park, he said.
The goal is to have phase one completed within a year.
