Cliffwood Avenue to Close Again Thursday for Bridge Repair

Starting Thursday morning, at 7 a.m., Cliffwood Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Cross Road to all eastbound traffic.

Aberdeen, NJ - Work on the second phase of the Cliffwood Avenue bridge project is set to begin this Thursday, June 16 at 7 a.m., the township announced Monday. 

Starting Thursday morning, at 7 a.m., Cliffwood Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Cross Road to all traffic traveling eastbound towards Rt. 35 and the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, police said Monday. That includes emergency vehicles as well.

The project, and road closure, will have a major impact on any drivers wishing to enter and exit the Parkway at Exit 120 as well as vehicles that take Cliffwood Avenue between Old Bridge Township and 35.

There will be detour signs posted, and the detour calls for using Matawan Avenue, Aberdeen Road, Ravine Drive and Laurence Harbor Parkway.

This is part two of a bridge deck repair and resurfacing project on Cliffwood Avenue, done by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and a contractor working for them, Joseph M. Sanzari Inc. Construction.

The work should last until July 3, however, weather and unforeseen conditions may extend the project, Aberdeen police warned.
