Say the words, “video game” and your kids are bound to stop and listen. The local owners of a new Code Ninjas, a learning center that debuted July 1 at 3873 Rte. 516 E, know that video games aren’t only fun, but educational. Code Ninjas will serve the local area by teaching children computer coding and problem solving skills while having fun building video games.

The Old Bridge center will welcome the community by hosting an open house event September 7 featuring tours of the center and STEM activities.

The Old Bridge location is owned by Sarita KC and her husband. When the family moved to the United States and welcomed their second child, she dedicated herself to being a full time mother. Now that the children are older, 12 and 6, Sarita felt ready to return to work and wanted to make a positive impact on her children and the community. While looking into business ownership in the technology field, the couple fell in love with Code Ninjas. Not only would kids be engaged and having fun, they will learn coding and problem solving skills at the same time.

“To provide children with this opportunity is a joy in itself,” said Sarita, who is a Computer Engineer by qualification. “I’ve been passionate about computing for ages, but didn’t receive formal training until later in life. It is immense joy to be able to bring rewarding programs that kids from the community can benefit and leverage later in the life.”

Old Bridge children ages 7-14 can visit the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.

“Our decision to invest in Code Ninjas is a fulfilling experience. STEM and Coding skills are becoming growing necessities and programs like Code Ninjas instill the required skill sets to prepare the next generation.” Adds Sarita’s Husband. He is a computer and management graduate who has been working with global financial firms for around 2 decades.

Code Ninjas accomplishes this with a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis (tutors) and fellow students as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish an app in an app store.

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, camps, birthday celebrations, after school programs and Parent’s Night Out events.

Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults. After numerous inquiries from parents, Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.
