Flash Flood Warning For Matawan Tuesday Afternoon/Evening

Look out if you live in the lowest-lying parts of town: Matawan is under a flash flood warning until 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, warns the NWS.

MATAWAN, NJ — Look out if you live in the lowest-lying parts of Matawan: Matawan is under a flash flood warning until 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, warns the National Weather Service based in Mount Holly.

Areas known to flood in Matawan are Ravine Drive, High Street near the train tracks and generally in the northeast corner of town.

At 1:51 p.m. today, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across Central New Jersey.

Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly in the areas of heaviest rain. Some locations that could experience flooding include: New Brunswick, Somerset, Edison, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Princeton, Matawan, Jamesburg, Hopewell, Rocky Hill, Skillman, Brownville, Kingston, Dayton, Plainsboro Center, North Brunswick Township and Kendall Park.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the warned area.
