Four Young, Pure-Bred Shih Tzus Available for Adoption

Rescued from a shelter that uses gas to euthanize unwanted animals, these four pups have a new shot at life.

Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue (CODAR) is an Aberdeen-based, non-profit canine rescue group that takes in dogs from high-kill shelters and puppy mills along the east coast and works to find them any necessary medical attention, foster care and a forever home.

This week CODAR has sent Patch ten dogs looking for a permanent, loving home. If you are interested in adopting any of the animals in the slideshow, fill out the application online atwww.castle-of-dreams.com.

These four young, pure-bred Shih Tzus were dumped by a puppy mill breeder at a high-kill shelter that uses gas to euthanize unwanted animals. Castle of Dreams heard about these sweet puppies and now they are awaiting adoption in New Jersey. All are shy and take some time to warm up, but are very loving. Their deeply matted fur was groomed after a volunteer offered to cover the cost if Castle of Dreams gave them a new chance at life.

Molly is a young Labrador mix who just arrived in New Jersey with her four puppies after being rescued from a high-kill shelter at the last minute. She's a sweet and loving dog in search of a happy home to call her own.

Sandy & Sisters

Sandy and her sisters traveled up here with their mom, Molly. These four sweet and playful little puppies are looking for homes with a family that will love them forever.

Hailey

Hailey is a one-year-old Chihuahua-Terrier mix who was abandoned and left to fend for herself. She was very frightened when she was first rescued and she is still a little shy, but she loves to be held and cuddled.

Mona

Mona is a two-and-a-half-year-old Pomeranian mix who was kept in a crate for two years. A little timid at first, Mona warms up very quickly. She has never lived with children but would do o.k. with older kids. She is fine with other cats and dogs. Mona has totally transformed with lots of love, kindness and the knowledge that she will never again be neglected. She is potty trained, uses the pet door and is playful and kind. She weighs about twelve pounds.

Spunky

Spunky is about four years old and eight pounds of pure sweetness. She was found in an abandoned strip mine in Kentucky living on her own, hungry and scared. She has really come around since being in foster care. She loves dogs and people and is doing great at house training.

Oscar

Oscar is a young, pure-bred Dachshund, dumped in a gas shelter in Tennessee. Shelter workers thought he was too sweet and called Castle of Dreams to rescue him. He is very shy but also very loving. Oscar doesn’t know what happened to the family he once loved and he’s hoping there’s a family in New Jersey that will love him forever.
