Thursday, September 5 @ 11 am – Learn Tai Chi
Come and participate in this meditative form of exercise which is associated with both spiritual and health benefits. This monthly class will be taught by Al Chuderski. No prior experience is needed, just wear comfortable clothing.
Participants must be at least 18 years-old and preference will be given to Matawan Aberdeen card holders.

Friday, September 6 @ 2 pm – First Friday Film & Discussion – Mister Rogers: It’s You I Like
In this program series, watch a short documentary (via Kanopy) with our Head of Adult Services, Jill Stafford, and then stick around for the discussion. Feel free to bring a sandwich or snack to eat while watching the film.

In this retrospective hosted by Michael Keaton, enjoy memorable segments including visits with Koko the Gorilla and Margaret Hamilton as well as the iconic trip to the Crayola crayon factory. Hear from stars including Judd Apatow, Whoopi Goldberg, John Lithgow, Sarah Silverman, and Caroll Spinney as they share their favorite memories from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

Thursday, September 12 @ 1:30 pm – Chair Yoga
Interested in learning yoga, but have difficulty getting down on the floor? Now you too can enjoy all the benefits of yoga without having to get on a mat. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation while seated in a chair. The class will be taught by Danielle Meany, RYT. All levels welcome. No experience or equipment is necessary.

Saturday, September 14 @ 2 pm – Knit/Crochet for a Cause
Do you like to knit or crochet? Come join us to make Twiddle Muffs for Alzheimer’s patients.
They are easy to make and bring joy to people in need. Just bring your own crochet hooks or knitting needles and some leftover yarn. We will provide directions for the project. You will meet people who share your interests and doing something good for the community. We will meet once a month to complete the items and prepare them for distribution.

Tuesday, September 17 from 6:30 -8:00 pm – Photography Contest Exhibition
Stop by to view the submitted photographs from our "Matawan Aberdeen Public Library Photography Contest" and chat with the artists while enjoying some light refreshments.
Wednesday, September 18 @ 7 pm – The Procraftinators
The Procraftinators, a crafting meet-up for adults, is the perfect place to bring whatever unfinished object (UFO), craft project or hobby you are working on. Complete that knitting, hand-sewing, embroidery, felting, drawing or jewelry project while socializing with others for encouragement and inspiration.

Thursday, September 19 @ 7 pm – Meditation for Everyone
Learn the power that your mind has over your body and bring peace through a mind-body connection. Understand the science behind meditation and relax through guided sessions. Each class will also focus on healthy and practical habits including breathing exercises, techniques to quiet distractions, and creating a routine and space.
Sunday, September 22 @ 2 pm –Yoga Shalom – Meditation & Yoga
Whether you have no experience or have been practicing for years, regardless of your age and ability, Yoga Shalom will help you relax your body, calm your mind, and nurture your spirit. Many Jewish blessings and meditations are represented & enacted through Yoga poses. Questions are asked as “thought questions” to guide you through the set of poses.
Yoga Shalom can be adapted to your own needs, skill & comfort level so this introductory session can be done using a mat or chair.
Yoga Shalom is presented by the Matawan/Aberdeen Chapter of Hadassah and facilitated by Helen Gross.
Monday, September 23 @ 7 pm – Yoga Basics
This class is great for the beginner or experienced student as we give variations for all levels. Focusing on movement integrating breath, awareness, and alignment you will build strength, focus, flexibility, and balance for both mind and body. The class will be taught by yoga instructor, Carrie Palamara. Please bring your own yoga mat or large towel as well as a bottle of water.
Must be at least 18 years-old to participate.
Thursday, September 26 @ 7 pm - Medicare 101
Are you turning 65, or over 65 years old? Would you like to learn about Medicare parts A, B, C, and D, and changes to them that can or may affect you?
Topics to be covered:
- Learn when and how to enroll in Medicare.
- Learn about the gaps in Medicare parts “A” and “B” and choices that are available, including supplementary coverage.
- What to do when leaving an employer group plan, such as when retiring and leaving your employer’s group coverage.
- Discussion about the next steps you take depending on your situation.
This workshop will be presented by Marcia V. Myers LUTCF

In this new monthly book club, we will select a title from Hoopla Digital. You read the ebook or listen to the eaudiobook and then join us to discuss the book. Hoopla Digital allows simultaneous checkouts so the book will be available to everyone who wants to read it.
