Lightning Strike At Sayreville Industrial Park
Breaking: Lightning just struck two tractor trailer cabs at a Sayreville industrial park around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — Be careful out there! Lightning just struck two tractor trailer cabs at a Sayreville industrial park in the past half hour. Both cabs were totally destroyed by the resulting fire.
The lightning strike happened at Viking Terminal on Jernee Mill Road in Sayreville, a 60-acre industrial park. The cabs were in the midst of being repaired when the lightning struck. Both cabs immediately ignited and were burned through by fire, said Sayreville fire Chief George Gawron.
"All of a sudden I just heard this loud boom; I never get scared of lightning but this shook me," said Viking Terminal owner Donna Roehsler. "I ran outside and saw the fire."

North Brunswick police also reported a lightning strike to power lines in the area of Rt. 130.
The fire did not spread and nobody was injured in the blaze, which all four Sayreville fire companies responded to. It is not the first time there has been a lightning strike at Viking Terminal. The incident snarled traffic on Jernee Mill Road and drivers in the area should still expect heavy traffic delays.
