Matawan-Aberdeen Library Has Months' Long Festival Of Giving
Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library has scheduled a series of events to help celebrate a Festival of Giving that highlights doing for others

MATAWAN, NJ - The Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library has scheduled a series of events to help everyone from the youngest among us to the eldest to help hone in on holiday spirit in the annual Festival of Giving.
Throughout the month, library patrons can contribute to the mitten tree in the children's section through Dec. 31. Patrons may donate new, unused mittens, gloves, hats or scarves in the appropriate box in the children's room. All donations will be sent to the Matawan Food Pantry for distribution.
The Giving Tree, which is sponsored by the Woman's Club of Matawan, will offer a homemade ornament for every book donated. The books will be donated to those in need.

A Polar Express Party is on the books for 10 a.m. Dec. 16. Story time with listeners in pajamas, enjoying a good book and some hot chocolate is just the ticket. To participate, please bring a toy or unperishable food item to donate.
"Color Me Calm" is an offering to help adults with accumulating holiday stress. Studies have shown that adult coloring can help reduce stress. At 2 p.m. Dec. 21, with crayons poised, the relaxation begins. Gentle mood music will be playing.

Teen DIY Soap and Bath Bomb Gifts is convening at 5 p.m. Monday where those from 6th thru 12th grades can get together to make special jars ideal for those who enjoy a spa or a relaxing bath. The teens will make one to give and one to keep.
Who is in the mood to make a little noise at the library? There will be a noon year's party at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 30 where children who will be unable to stay awake until the clock strikes 12 a.m. can get into a new year's state of mind with crafts. But all ages are welcome as not everybody is a night person, not even on the holiday.
All through the month, the library is offering a food for fines exchange in which if a patron donates non-perishable food or toiletries, overdue charges will be forgiven. This does not apply to damaged or lost items. All items will be donated to the Matawan Food Pantry.
Some of these programs require registration in advance so check the library website or Facebook page before you go.
