The Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District is partnering with New York University to create kinder, more just schools.

ABERDEEN, NJ - The Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District is partnering with New York University's Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools which will provide eight sessions of professional development and technical assistance to the district to focus on promoting equity and justice in education.

The partnership will employ a system-wide equity intervention model, aligning with the district's Strategic Plan for Curriculum and Instruction:

Goal #4: To promote a positive, supportive and safe school climate that embraces kindness, diversity, individuality and respect for all.

It has three objectives:
Objective 1: Maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment
Objective 2: Establish cohesive relationships between students, educators and the community
Objective 3: Maintain an inclusive environment that celebrates differences and diversity.

NYU Metro Center promotes equity and opportunity in education through engaged science work: applied research, program evaluation, policy analysis, community engagement and professional assistance to educational, governmental, and community agencies serving vulnerable populations.
