Matawan-Aberdeen Prepares For Tropical Storm Fay

As of Friday morning, Aberdeen police are already pre-positioning barricades​ on roads known to flood:

ABERDEEN, NJ — Aberdeen — and up and down the Jersey Shore — is battening down the hatches to prepare for Tropical Storm Fay, expected to hit at mid-afternoon Friday.

No flooding has been reported so far, but as of 2 p.m., about 22,000 customers were without electricity in Monmouth County, according to JCP&L.

At Sandy Hook, National Park Service staff is moving equipment to high ground to prepare for flooding.

Prepare for tropical storm-force winds of 30-40 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Tie down anything that can be blown away. As always, conditions will be worse along the coast and coastal areas.

1-3 inches of rainfall is expected. And a flash flood watch is in effect: Areas that usually flood will do later this afternoon and evening.

Around sunset, rain will turn more intermittent, but can still be heavy at times into the evening, before it lifts well to the north.
