Matawan Gets $200K For Overbrook Lane Improvements

MATAWAN, NJ — Matawan is one of thirteen towns in the 12th legislative district selected to receive more than $3.25 million in state aid grants from the Department of Transportation, money that will be used to repair various local roads.

In Matawan, $200,000 was given to make unspecified improvements to Overbrook Lane. It remains unclear when the work will start and how long it will last, and if the road will be at all closed to traffic during the work.

Aberdeen Twp. was also given $270,000 to continue the road upgrades being done to Cliffwood Avenue.

The news was announced by the area's local Assemblymen Ron Dancer and Rob Clifton, both Republican.

In total, $3.25 million was given in state aid to repair roads in various local towns near Matawan and Aberdeen. See the full list below.

“This funding will help get vital roadway projects moving and will make much-needed improvements for the benefit of motorists,” said Dancer (R-Ocean).

The state Dept. of Transportation provides 75 percent of the grant amount when a town awards a contract and the remaining 25 percent upon completion of the project.
