Matawan To Hold Fireworks Celebration Friday Night

The fireworks, postponed from July 2, will take place at dusk at Ravine Drive Bridge and Lake Lefferts Park.

MATAWAN, NJ — With Tropical Storm Elsa gone, borough officials have announced its annual fireworks celebration is on.

The fireworks dispaly, postponed from July 2, will begin at dusk. The viewing area will be located at Ravine Drive Bridge and Lake Lefferts Park. However, due to the uncertainty of the weather and vendor cancellations, the pre-show festivities including, food, music and rides will be rescheduled to another Matawan summer event, officials said.

Ravine Drive will be closed to traffic around 7:30 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from the Matawan First Presbyterian Church, and the immediate area surrounding the church will be closed off to the public during the celebration.
