Matawan Man, 81, Renews Vows With Wife Of 52 Years
This couple has been married 52 years and live in a senior home in Matawan. On Valentine's Day, he surprised his wife with a vow renewal.
MATAWAN, NJ — If you didn't get enough of the love vibe on Valentine's Day, how's this for cute: An 81-year-old resident of Atrium Senior Living in Matawan surprised his wife of 52 years on Friday with a vow renewal.
Don and Audrey Ostler have been married for 52 years now, but that didn't stop Don from asking his wife if she would renew their marriage vows in a surprise ceremony this past Valentine’s Day. The vow renewal was held at Atrium Senior Living of Matawan, where they both live.
The couple was married on August 27, 1967. Don is 81 and his wife is 78.

Audrey’s caregiver made sure her make-up was done perfectly and her outfit was wedding ready for the special occasion.
According to Don, “the secret to a long, happy marriage is to always be respectful to each other, understanding and helpful. Honesty is key and to never go to bed mad at each other."

Their vow renewal was performed by an ordained minister and featured a live keyboardist, violinist and of course, wedding cake.
Atrium Senior Living is located at 40 Freneau Avenue in Matawan.
