Matawan Regional Athlete Receives Scholarship Money
This dual football and baseball player was also named Matawan's NJSIAA scholar-athlete of the year in 2016.

Matawan, NJ - Matawan Regional High School senior Adam Elliot was given a $500 college scholarship from NJ Manufacturers Insurance as part of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
Elliott is best know for his baseball career at Matawan Regional, but went out for the football team in the fall of his senior year. As a shortstop on the baseball team, he was a starter player all three years, where he led the Huskies as a top hitter and infielder.
As a newbie kicker this past fall on the Matawan football team, Elliot ended the 2015 season on a particularly high note: On Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, he kicked a 25-yard field goal with four seconds left in time. The field goal prevented Manasquan from securing a Hail Mary attempt at a win, and brought Matawan its Shore Conference Class A Central victory.

Elliot was named Matawan's NJSIAA scholar-athlete of the year in 2016. He is one of 217 high school student-athletes across the state honored for their achievements, receiving a total of $172,000 in college scholarships.
Each NJSIAA member high school (MRHS is a member) has the opportunity to select one senior student as their scholar-athlete of the year. Those students then attend the scholar-athlete luncheon where, through a random drawing, they had the chance to win a college scholarship from one of multiple sponsors. Congratulations, Adam!
