Middle School Art Show at Matawan Aberdeen Library Draws Large Crowd

Young artists had the opportunity to flaunt their skill at an art show at the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library.

About eighty parents, friends and teachers gathered at the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library on May 14 to celebrate the accomplishments of Matawan Aberdeen Middle School artists.

The second annual student art show was a collaboration between the library and the Matawan Aberdeen Middle School a featured a collection of artwork from nearly thirty students chosen by art teachers Rod Stevens and Valerie Gawron.

Middle school music instructor Justin Shepard sang and played guitar while guests enjoyed the artwork along with some refreshments provided by the Friends of the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library.

The artwork will hang in the library throughout the summer and patrons are encouraged to take a moment to check it out, Library Director Kimberly Paone said.
