Old Bridge Man, 22, Killed In Rt. 9 Crash

He was driving a BMW when he was killed early Saturday morning after colliding with a tractor trailer truck on Rt. 9 south in Old Bridge.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A man driving a BMW was killed early Saturday morning when he collided with a tractor trailer truck on Rt. 9 in Old Bridge, Old Bridge Police announced. The man who died was identified as Miguel P. Reis, 22, from Old Bridge.

The fatal accident happened at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, April 3, on Rt. 9 south at the intersection of Ferry Road, said acting Old Bridge Police Chief Joe Mandola.

The tractor trailer was stopped for a red light in the center lane of Rt. 9 south. As the light turned green, the tractor trailer was struck from behind by a black four-door BMW. The impact caused the BMW to cross into the northbound lanes of Rt 9; the male driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

There were no other passengers in the BMW. The truck driver did not receive any injuries.

Victim information is being held until notification of next of kin.
