Police Close Rt. 9 In Old Bridge For Cont'd. Crash Investigation
Breaking: Rt. 9 north between Texas Road and Spring Valley Road will be closed for approximately two hours., beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Part of Rt. 9 in Old Bridge Township will be closed for two hours Friday afternoon, March 1, as police continue to investigate a fatal accident that occurred there Monday.
Rt. 9 north between Texas Road and Spring Valley Road will be closed for approximately two hours., beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Old Bridge police announced on Facebook this morning.
As Patch previously reported, nearly everyone involved in Monday's crash was from Manalapan. Two people, a Manalapan husband and wife, were killed. Grigory Deli, 72, and his wife, Margarita Deli, 71, were killed as they sat in the back of a Toyota Prius; another car rear-ended the Prius, Old Bridge police said.

The husband and wife were backseat passengers in a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Jay Sherry, 37, also of Manalapan. A 2003 Honda Pilot driven by Vladimir Morozov, 34, of Manalapan, rear-ended the Prius, according to MyCentralJersey.com.
The Delis were pronounced dead when EMTs got there.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 and backed up traffic for hours during the Monday morning commute along heavily-used Rt. 9. The crash happened on Rt. 9 north just before Rt. 18 and near the Spring Valley Road intersection.
A third vehicle, a 2004 Nissan Altima driven by a Staten Island resident, was also involved. Sherry and the driver of that car were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
