PPE Donations For Aberdeen/Matawan Police From Sen. Vin Gopal

ABERDEEN, NJ — Monmouth County elected officials from both sides of the aisle — State Senator Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch) and Republican Congressman Chris Smith — are helping secure face masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment for local first responders.

Gopal, through his Vin Gopal Civic Association, teamed up with Eatontown Police Chief Bill Lucia to raise funds to buy PPE. They just released their second round of donations this past weekend, and both the Matawan boro and Aberdeen police departments were on the list.

More than 300 boxes of gloves, hundreds of cases of sanitizer and as well as hundreds of KN95 masks were distributed to more than 75 agencies and providers in Monmouth County. The full list is below.

And Rep. Smith, the area's local Republican congressman, worked with Hong Kong human rights advocates who donated 4,000 high-quality surgical masks to CentraState Medical Center.

Amanda and Johnny Ho of Freehold donated 2,000 masks, and Andrew Duncan of New York also donated 2,000 masks on Friday to CentraState.

"I know that that the international Hong Kong community — who like Americans struggle to contain this outbreak — are our good friends," said Smith on Friday. "They face their own struggles with the outbreak and with China. For them to show this gesture to CentraState workers is very much appreciated.”
