MATAWAN, NJ — As of 11 a.m., all lanes of Rt. 79 at Wilson Avenue in Matawan remain closed due to a downed pole and power lines, the NJ Dept. of Transportation tweeted.

Expect Rt. 79 at Wilson to remain closed for most of the day Tuesday, said police.

All lanes of Rt. 79 at Wilson Avenue have been closed down for the past four hours, since 7 a.m.

Rt. 79 is a major thoroughfare in and out of Matawan.

Marlboro Police released the following Tuesday morning on Facebook:

"Route 79 NB is closed and all traffic is being detoured down Lloyd Road. This closure is expected to remain in place for most of the day. Texas Road at the intersection with Greenwood Road is closed to all northbound traffic. This closure is also expected for most of the day. Please avoid the area if possible."
