South Amboy Mom Delivers Monmouth County's First Baby Of 2019

This South Amboy mom delivered the first baby born in Monmouth County in 2019: A baby boy born at 1:52 a.m. Jan. 1 at Riverview.

RED BANK, NJ — A woman from South Amboy delivered the first baby born in Monmouth County in 2019; the baby entered this world at 1:52 a.m. Jan. 1 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

Baby boy James Shevchenko, III arrived at 1:52 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2019, a spokesman for the hospital said. He was born to mother Alicia Shevchenko and father James Shevchenko, Jr., who live in South Amboy. The couple already have two older children, and this is their third child.

Baby boy Shevchenko arrived weighing seven pounds, 10 ounces and 19 inches long. Riverview Medical Center is part of the Hackensack Meridian hospital network in New Jersey.

"He was due on the third (of January) so it came as a surprise," father James Shevchenko told the Asbury Park Press. "We couldn't have asked for anything better to start the New Year."
