“We’re very pleased to announce this first group of restaurants that have taken the initiative to offer their patrons a safe dining experience,” said Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini. “While our Building Department and other authorities have gone to great lengths to expedite these openings, this is not an easy or inexpensive process for the restaurants, even those that offered outdoor dining before the pandemic. We hope that others in town will follow their lead.”
“In particular, we want to single out the efforts of Aberdeen Townsquare landlord Jim Dolan, who worked with the owners of Court Jester, Denino’s and Town Square Diner to quickly pull together the tented dining area in the center’s parking lot," added Aberdeen Deputy Mayor Joe Martucci. "This was truly an amazing example of competing businesses working together for the common good.”
Aberdeen has been promoting each restaurant’s outdoor dining program through a series of You Tube Videos in which the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and other members of the Township Council visit the locations and speak with the owners. Additionally, the Aberdeen Economic Business Council (EBC) is promoting outdoor dining as well as the return of ‘non-essential’ retailing with a series of “Aberdeen is Open for Business—Shop Locally” banners that are being placed throughout the town.
As it did with restaurants offering take-out service and other retail establishments that remained open during the pandemic, the township will continue to update its listing of establishments offering outdoor dining on its website (www.aberdeennj.org) and Facebook page.
Information on outdoor dining and other important township announcements can also be found on the Aberdeen Township NJ You Tube Channel.
