5 Dead In NJ In 5 Crashes: Police (UPDATED)
Five people were killed in five horrible crashes – two at the Jersey Shore – that shut down NJ roadways, police said.

NEW JERSEY – Five people were killed in five crashes that happened this weekend, police said. The crashes were among a series of traffic nightmares that happened on New Jersey roadways over the past four days.
One of the crashes closed all northbound lanes of the Bayonne Bridge Monday night. The lanes have since reopened.

Here is what happened:
- A Brick Township man has been identified as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run Sunday night on Drum Point Road, and a Barnegat Township man has been arrested in connection with his death, Brick police said Monday afternoon. Read more: Arrest In Fatal Hit-And-Run On Drum Point Road: Brick PD
- One person was killed in another fatal crash at the Jersey Shore on Sunday night. The crash happened at approximately 7:59 p.m. when police responded at the intersection of Route 9 and Bayview Road in the Edgewood section of Middle Township. Two motorcycles traveling northbound on Route 9 collided, police said. Christopher Green, 22 of Whitesboro was pronounced dead at the scene. - A driver fatally struck a pedestrian at about 8:55 p.m. Monday on the Black Horse Pike, according to police. Jose Santiago, 33, of Egg Harbor Township, was thrown about 75 feet and sustained fatal injuries, police said. Read more: Pedestrian Fatally Struck In Egg Harbor Twp., 1 Car Flees: Police
- The Delaware State Police have identified the name of the New Jersey driver who died in a crash on Friday on Indian Mission Road and Beaver Dam Road in Harbeson. John R. Acken, 79, of Old Tappan was operating a 2014 Subaru Outback when it failed to stop and entered the intersection directly in the path of the tractor trailer. - One person was killed and another was seriously injured when a vehicle struck a divider on the New Jersey side of the Bayonne Bridge just past the John F. Kennedy Boulevard exit at 7:20 p.m. on Monday, a Port Authority spokesman told nj.com. Both occupants were taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced dead.

A two-car accident also sent a vehicle through a man's home at about 4:12 p.m. Monday, Berkeley police said. The man was on his couch and suffered injuries after he was struck in the back, according to authorities. Read more: Car Crashes Through Berkeley Home, Injures Man On Couch: Police
And two cars collided in Manahawkin on Monday, though it appears no one was seriously hurt.
