POINT PLEASANT, NJ – The new Superintendent of School for the Point Pleasant School District, Adam L. Angelozzi, posted a welcome message on the district’s website talking about getting acquainted with a new school district and community.

“Over the past month, I have met numerous members of the community. A common theme emerged amongst those I spoke with during that time. From parents to teachers and from alumni to current students, everyone spoke about how the Point Pleasant Borough School District is part of an amazingly tight-knit community that supports its schools and its children, Angelozzi, who was most recently the head principal at Manalapan High School, said in the letter.

“When I toured the schools and the facilities, students were smiling. Bicycles adorned the front of the buildings, and students walked hand-in-hand with their parents as they were greeted by building principals. It quickly became obvious that what I had heard was true; Point Pleasant Borough School District was filled with neighborhood schools where caring adults work alongside families to foster the growth of children.”

Angelozzi, who replaced Vincent Smith, who retired on June 30 after serving for 13 years, also spoke on how the past year has been hard for the district due to everything surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that he’ll reach out to community members to help navigate the district through these difficult times.

“This past school year was unlike any other, and our students will need additional academic, social, and emotional support as we move forward. Looking towards September, our district, along with many others, will continue to face challenges, Angelozzi said.
