Christie Rampone Returns To Point Boro High School For Football Playoffs
Soccer star and Point Pleasant High School alumni to be honored guest at event on Friday.

When the Point Pleasant Panthers take to the football field on Friday night for the first game of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Central Jersey Section II playoffs, Christie Rampone will be there to cheer them on.
Rampone, a 1993 graduate of Point Pleasant Borough High School, is an elite professional soccer player and the captain of the United States women’s national soccer team.
“While attending Point Pleasant Borough High School, Christie Rampone was a multi-sport athlete, playing varsity-level field hockey, basketball, and soccer,” Superintendent Vincent S. Smith said. “During that time, she set numerous school and conference records in scoring and earned All-State honors among other accolades in all three sports. She has frequently been heralded as not only the best athlete Point Pleasant Borough Schools but also Ocean County has ever produced and we could not be more proud of all that she has accomplished.”

District officials plan to hold a brief ceremony before the game begins at 6:45 p.m.
“Christie Pearce Rampone has left to the Point Pleasant Borough School District and the surrounding community a lasting legacy of athletic excellence,” said Smith. “She is a role model as well as a source of great inspiration to all those who aspire to success. We’re thrilled to welcome her home.

Rampone represented the United States at the 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals, as well as at the 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics. She’s a three-time Olympic gold medalist, having won championship titles at the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics, and also a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion from 1999 and 2015.
