Football: Point Boro Knocks Off Lakewood
The Panthers, however, missed out a trip to the state playoffs.

Devin Connelly ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for another as Point Pleasant Boro beat Lakewood 21-12 on Saturday in a Shore Conference Class B South football game, according to the Shore Sports Network.
The Panthers (6-3) opened the game with a touchdown when Gene Franceschini connected with Jax Weigert on a halfback option, and kept the Piners (4-4) in check from there.
But Point Boro is looking at an NJSIAA consolation game next week based on unofficial power point projections, as the Panthers’ victory doesn’t affect those rankings, which are based on each team’s first eight games of the season. Point Boro played its eighth game last week, beating Jackson Liberty.
