Gas Main Installation To Close Route 35 North In Point Beach

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Route 35 northbound will be closed and detoured in Point Pleasant Beach on Monday because of a gas main installation, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, New Jersey Natural Gas contractor J.F. Kiely Construction Company will close and detour Route 35 northbound just east of East Street in Point Pleasant Beach to install a gas main under the NJ Transit tracks, officials said.

NJ Transit service will not be affected.

The closure and detour is expected to remain in place for approximately one week.

Route 35 northbound detour:

  • Motorists wishing to travel on Route 35 northbound near East Street will be directed to bear right onto Ocean Avenue
  • Turn left onto Washington Avenue back to Route 35

The precise timing of the work is subject to change because of weather or other factors.
