Jersey Shore local Cassie Childers and her husband James Ryle have launched their book The Camino Provides: A Curious Guide to the Camino del Norte. Part memoir, part guidebook, this deeply insightful personal account combines with first-hand, carefully researched practical advice for anyone considering walking even part of the Camino de Santiago. Their coverage begins on the France-Spain border at Irun, spanning the entire northern coast of Spain to the Atlantic Ocean – a journey of 940km.
The Camino de Santiago is a network of trails leading from cities all over Europe to the grave of the apostle James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. In medieval times the route emerged as the most significant pilgrimage in the Christian world as the Holy Land became increasingly dangerous to outsiders. In recent times the walk has become a spiritual rite of passage for people of all faiths and nationalities.

As the cover art suggests, The Camino Provides is at times dark, at times dreamy and most definitely unconventional when it comes to Camino-based memoirs.
James Ryle and Cassie Childers met in the Indian Himalayas in 2011, leading to a long collaboration with the Tibet Women’s Soccer program, a women’s empowerment NGO operating in the Tibetan refugee community until 2017. Together they worked to introduce soccer to Tibetan women for the first time.
