Labor Day Wkd. DWI Checkpoints, Extra Patrols In NJ: Here's Where
Here's where police will be searching for drunk drivers in NJ.
NEW JERSEY – The last weekend of New Jersey's "local summer" is here, and there will be plenty of people taking to the roads. The police will be out, too, making sure they're safe.
That's why there could be many drunk-driving checkpoints throughout the state as departments are planning to beef up patrols in New Jersey. Below is a list of departments that received money to increase police presence in their communities.

Port Authority bridges and crossings
The Port Authority Police Department will conduct DWI checkpoints at its facilities from 10 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. on Sunday. The Port Authority operates the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel, the Hollland Tunnel, the Goethals Bridge and the Outerbridge Crossing.

Drivers will be subject to inspection. The purpose of the DWI checkpoint is to deter and apprehend anyone who operates a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Police also will distribute literature on the dangers of driving while intoxicated, according to the Port Authority.
Jersey Shore
The Monmouth County DWI Task force will conduct a DWI checkpoint to detect drivers under the influence of alcohol and or drugs this Friday night and Saturday morning in Keyport. The checkpoint will be run from 10 p.m. Friday through 2 a.m. Saturday on Rt. 36. Read more: DWI Checkpoint In Keyport This Friday Night
Extra patrols
The Division of Highway Traffic Safety has announced grants totaling more than $540,000 that will be used by local law enforcement agencies to crack down on drunk and impaired drivers as part of the national initiative, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
Law enforcement agencies across New Jersey received funds to staff saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which runs through Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to a DHTS news release.
