Laura B. Smith Of Point Pleasant Dies At 57

Services for former Woodbridge teacher will be held on Wednesday and Thursday

Laura B. Smith of Point Pleasant passed away at her home peacefully with her family by her side on Jan. 5, 2018. She was 57.

Laura was born on Feb. 16, 1960 in Newark to John W. and Roberta (Cvik) Baldante. Along with her husband, Laura raised her family in Colonia and in 2011 they moved to Point Pleasant.

Until her retirement in 2012, Laura was a public speaking teacher at Colonia High School. She touched many young lives during her 12-year career with the Woodbridge School System. Her three children were the greatest joys in her life.

Laura is preceded in death by her mother, Roberta (Cvik) Baldante. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Vincent Smith; her beloved children Nicholas Smith and his wife Alicia of Brick, Morgan Smith, and Sarah Smith both of Point Pleasant; and her father John W. Baldante. Laura is also survived by her brother John Baldante of Philadelphia, PA, sisters, Nancy and Robert Cleary of Colonia, NJ, and Robin and John Tilton of Long Beach Island; parents-in-law Vincent and Frances Smith; sisters-in-law April and Harvey Hendershot; and LeeAnn and Stanley Kubbishun of Pennsylvania. She was a generous and loving aunt to her 9 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial gathering from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 Brick, NJ. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at St. Martha's R.C. Church in Point Pleasant.
