POINT PLEASANT, NJ – In a letter posted on the school district’s website on Wednesday, Point Pleasant Superintendent of Schools Vincent Smith announced that mask-wearing will now be voluntary for the rest of the school year, effective immediately.

“I wanted to inform you that effective tomorrow, Wednesday, June 9th, through the remainder of the school year, the district has determined it is optional for students and staff to wear a mask in school, regardless of the temperature,” Smith’s letter said.

This letter comes one day after announcing mask-wearing would be a day-to-day decision depending on the weather.
