Police also charge 29-year-old woman with using drugs around the boy
A Jackson woman has been charged with child endangerment after authorities say she used the cord of a 12-year-old's PlayStation video game console controller to assault him.
Rebecca L. Smith, 29, is also accused of using drugs around the boy, who was not identified.
The victim had numerous marks left on his body and face from the assault which were photographed and documented by a detective from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department criminalistics investigation unit, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Ocean County Prosecutor's Detective Lindsay Woodfield, along with Jackson Township Police Detective Robert Reiff arrested Smith on Thursday after executing a search warrant at her residence. As a result of the search, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found, according to Della Fave.
Smith is being held at the Ocean County Jail on $75,000 cash bail.
