The Ocean County YMCA is hosting drive-through COVID-19 testing
The local nonprofit will offer COVID-19 testing by appointment only Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
The Ocean County YMCA will offer COVID-19 testing to the community starting April 16. The Y will be hosting SV Diagnostics to offer a new type of PCR testing called QuickSal, a non-invasive oral rinse collection method for the detection of the COVID-19 virus. QuickSal and nasal PCR testing will both offered at the Y.
“We are excited to bring QuickSal testing for COVID-19 to the Ocean County YMCA in an effort to support the growing needs of our community,” said Peter T. Rosario, President & CEO of the Ocean County YMCA. “This testing takes less than three minutes to perform and makes it easier for those who struggle with traditional nasal swabs.”
The new QuickSal technology allows patients to swish and gargle a small amount of solution in their mouths before spitting it into a collection tube. This method is also known to stabilize the collected specimen in ways that have been unable to be achieved through prior saliva collection methods.

Drive-through testing is available via the back parking lot of the Ocean County YMCA located at 1088 West Whitty Road in Toms River. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Results will be returned within 48 hours. The testing is open to anyone and will be covered by health insurance carriers or the federal government; patients must only supply their insurance information or social security number.
