Pauline Summered In Point Pleasant. She Passed Away From COVID.

Pauline Arnold was 92 years old when she passed, and she was honored by Gov. Phil Murphy.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — On Monday, Gov. Phil Murphy recognized Pauline Arnold as one of the thousands of New Jersey residents who died as a result of coronavirus. The New Jersey resident, who was known for summering in Point Pleasant Beach, was 92.

Arnold and her late husband, Albert, lived in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge since 1952.

The Arnolds chose to raise their family in Hopelawn and they were parishioners of Good Sheperd Roman Catholic Church for decades. She is survived by her three daughters, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

"Family was foremost to Pauline," said the governor. "Whether it meant summer vacations to Point Pleasant or making everybody, and I mean everybody, dance to the song 'Runaround Sue.'"

Arnold died on Monday, January 25th.

Born in Elizabeth, Pauline was one of six children. She settled in Hopelawn with her husband and raised her family there. Pauline was a long-time communicant of Good Shepherd RC Church in Hopelawn, according to Flynn and Sons Funeral Home.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1990 and son-in-law, Glenn Mohr.

Survivors are Barbara Mohr of Hopelawn, Diane Caffiero and husband Richard of Port Reading and Marie Steele and husband Norman of Manahawkin. She had eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.

Funeral services were held last month.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline’s memory to the Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.
