Point Beach Council Renews Martell's Liquor License
The borough wanted to establish a dialogue with Martell's to discuss concerns the borough had, including crowd size and music on the beach.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – At a special meeting of the Point Pleasant Beach borough council on Tuesday night, the council approved the liquor license renewal for Martell’s Tiki Bar and Jake’s Crab Shack.
Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra said that the borough wanted to use the upcoming renewal to bring some concerns that the borough had regarding the famed boardwalk location, mainly larger crowds on Mondays and Tuesdays, and having a DJ on the beach.
“This afforded us with Martell’s to have a positive conversation with them to raise some concerns that the borough has and open up a good dialogue to where we eventually go to with Jenkinson’s,” Kanitra said.

After seeing that Martell’s was willing to make changes, including the adding of security during the weekends and Monday and Tuesdays, Kanitra had no problem with renewing the license as it was a positive sign for the borough.
“With these concessions and the fact that they seem to be on the same page with us, I have no reservations whatsoever about the liquor license,” Kanitra said.
