Point Beach School District To Get COVID Relief Grants
These grants are the result of the federal CARES Act, which was passed back in March.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – The Point Pleasant Beach School District received two Emergency and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants totaling $955,256 from the New Jersey Department of Education last week.
The ESSER grants were given to the Department of Education through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed back in March. The CARES Act provides states with direct funding to address the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on school districts in every state. Each district's total amount is based on the amount of Title 1 funding that the district receives from the federal government.
"We know our students and educators have had a difficult year," Governor Phil Murphy said back in February.
