Point Pleasant Beach 'Getting Closer' As Outdoor Dining 'Popular'

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach is "getting closer" to getting back on its feet amid the coronavirus outbreak, but it's not there yet, the mayor says.

Mayor Paul Kanitra said he's looking forward to indoor dining reopening on Thursday and he's expecting that bars and restaurants will "all adhere to the 25 percent requirement and will be checking in regularly to make sure.

"This is an important moment for the town and our business community and it’s vital that we get it done properly in a safe manner," Kanitra said.

Kanitra said the outdoor seating is very popular and usually filled.

The additional 25 percent will get a lot of restaurants to almost 75 percent capacity total, he said.

"We’re getting closer, but still not there yet," he said.
