Point Pleasant Beach has hopes that the state could revisit its decision to postpone the reopening of indoor dining.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach has hopes that Gov. Phil Murphy will soon revisit his decision to postpone the reopening of indoor dining, with many businesses saying they're still doing their best to deal with the situation.
Mayor Paul Kanitra said the indoor dining situation was addressed on a call with the Office of the Governor’s this week and "I was left with the impression that they may revisit it again in a few weeks depending on the COVID-19 numbers at that time."
"We plan on closely monitoring the situation," he said.

Kanitra said he sympathizes "so much with our restaurants that bought food in anticipation of indoor seating and desperately need it to keep their doors open."
"This has been so difficult for them and I hope the community once again steps up to support them with outdoor dining and take out," he said.

Indeed, a number of businesses in Point Pleasant Beach and Point Pleasant Boro say they're coping and doing what they can to keep themselves afloat.
Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty told Patch that "we're doing the best we can during these strange times."
"Our outdoor restaurants are doing great! Even though the Shanty will be closed until further notice, we are hoping to get the doors open again very soon," the company said.
Frye Brewing in Point Pleasant Boro said they're doing OK even though the business has no room for outside seating, and plans to wait until everyone else "opens their tap rooms (once we're allowed) to see how things develop before we pull the trigger."
"We're in a unique position between being a brand new startup and having lots of people working here who rely on us," the business said.
"We're ok for now, trying to help others where we can."
