POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Point Pleasant Beach has announced an effort to boost security for local residents.

Mayor Paul Kanitra said the town has successfully worked with Ring Inc. and the company is offering a discount to Point Pleasant Beach residents in the 08742 zip code for a limited time period through its community discount program.

The program is not a town initiative and does not involve taxpayer funding or any obligation on the part of residents who do not wish to participate.

Residents who live within the specified zip code may redeem a discount using a code when purchasing eligible Ring products at Ring.com during the specified 10-day period beginning October 1, 2020 and ending October 10, 2020.

Ring offers these discount programs as part of its mission to make neighborhoods safer and support local communities. Community groups can learn more about this program and how to participate by visiting Ring’s website here.

Kanitra said the effort is "part of our continued efforts to increase security in Point Beach."

"This is a vital step in enabling our community to have more video oversight and peace of mind, as well as access to Ring's Neighbors app," Kanitra said.

This program does not include any kind of special access to the Neighbors app. Neighbors is a free app which is already available across the US for anyone who wants to share and receive important local crime and safety updates from reliable sources – whether or not they own a Ring device, the company says.

You can visit Ring’s website here to learn more about Neighbors and download the app now.

The move also comes as Point Pleasant Beach dealt with a stabbing incident on the boardwalk this past weekend. Read more: Attempted Murder Charge In Point Pleasant Beach Stabbings

Kanitra told residents to look for your code and more details in the community newsletter that should hit mailboxes next week.

Make your purchase during the October 1st to 10th timeframe.

"Thank you to Karen Mills and the Point Pleasant Beach Community Endowment Fund for helping to quarterback this effort," he said. "Learn more about Ring's products at https://shop.ring.com/."
