Point Pleasant School District To Get Over $2 M In COVID Grants
The grants are designed to help school districts recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
POINT PLEASANT, NJ – The Point Pleasant School District received two Emergency and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants totaling $2,251,643 from the New Jersey Department of Education last week.
The ESSER grants were given to the Department of Education through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed back in March. The CARES Act provides states with direct funding to address the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on school districts in every state. Each district's total amount is based on the amount of Title 1 funding that the district receives from the federal government.
"We know our students and educators have had a difficult year," Governor Phil Murphy said back in February.
