POINT PLEASANT BORO – The Point Pleasant School Boro District announced on Friday that they had revised their district policy regarding COVID-19 quarantining for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

In a letter on the district’s website, the district’s Superintendent of Schools Vincent S. Smith explained that the changes were made based on guidelines from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH).

“We will be decreasing our quarantine time period to 10 days for “close contact” exposure and following travel beyond the immediate region, based on additional information in the NJDOH quarantine guidance,” Superintendent Smith said.

According to the new district guidelines, non-vaccinated students and staff who have been exposed as “close contacts” will now be excluded from school for 10 days (or 7 days with negative test results collected at 5-7 days).

Students and staff traveling out of the immediate region should self-quarantine for a full week after return and get tested with a viral test 3- 5 days after travel. If negative, please stay home and continue self-quarantine for a full week.

Students and staff should self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms following travel. If symptoms develop, staff and students must isolate and get tested for COVID-19 as proof of a negative test result must be provided before returning to school.

Students and district staff who are vaccinated are not required to quarantine after close contact or out-of-state travel. Fully vaccinated travelers should still self-monitor COVID- 19 symptoms and isolate and get tested if symptoms develop.
