'Proud Father:' Man Who Died At Jenkinson's Was Hit By Wave
Anthony J. Timpanaro loved his family. He was with them when tragedy took place in the surf in Point Pleasant Beach.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Anthony J. Timpanaro loved his family. He was with them when tragedy took place in the surf in Point Pleasant Beach last week.
"Tippy," 69, passed away after he was just standing at the edge so his feet got wet with his son, daughter-in-law and his 7-year-old grandson, said his son, David Timpanaro.
A big wave took him and the brought him into the undertow. Rescue attempts failed.

"He just wanted to get his feet wet with my son," David said.
Now the family is putting the pieces back together as they mourn his death, and they've asked for the public's help in finding Anthony's belongings.

Indeed, David has asked if anybody has anything of his father's that may have washed ashore.
If you've seen his wallet or phone or even his jeans, he said, the family would like to know.
"There are pictures and things that he had on him that we will never see again otherwise," David said.
They want to make sure they have the keepsakes that represented what Anthony considered "his world:" his wife and family.
Timpanaro was born and raised in Bayonne, where he resided until he moved to Manchester in 2018 with his wife, Carmen. Anthony worked for the USPS for 38 years before retiring in 2009, according to his obituary from the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home.
"Anthony was an incredibly proud father," his obituary said. "His children and his wife were his world and he will be missed immensely."
Timpanaro loved being with his family, was a diehard New York Yankees and New York Giant fan and was proud umpire through his retirement, his obituary said.
He also enjoyed playing bocce ball, bowling, and was a member of the Elks Club of Bayonne, where he had also served as the Exalted Ruler.
Timpanaro is survived by his wife Carmen, his children; Amy and her partner Mark Kart; Lauren, David and his wife Lia; Joseph and his fiancée Imani Podhradsky; her children, Noah and Naila; Anthony and his wife Laura; his beloved grandchildren; Quinn, Julia, and Collin; and his sisters, Nancy Wentworth and Antoinette Olesky.
Visitation was set to be held on Tuesday at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled to be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m., at St. Henry RC Church at 82 W 29th St. in Bayonne, with interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
