See It In Photos: Point Pleasant Beach Celebrates Senior Night With Win Over Keansburg
The senior class leads the way in the Garnet Gulls' 39-7 victory

It was Senior Night in Point Pleasant Beach and the Garnet Gulls’ football team took that seriously, as its senior players led the way to a 39-7 victory over Keansburg in a Shore Conference Class B Central game on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Jake Fioretti ran for a 17-yard score and hit Tanner Smith with a pass for an 11-yard score as the Gulls (4-2) scored four times in the first quarter to take control over Keansburg (1-5, 0-4) early.
Michael Frauenheim rushed for two touchdowns for Point Beach, which rebounded nicely from last weekend’s loss to Dunellen.

Fioretti’s first score came four minutes into the game on an option play to the left side of the Keansburg defense.
On its next possession, a Frauenheim punt return gave the Gulls first-and-10 at the Keansburg 35, Fioretti hit Smith down the right sideline for a touchdown that made it 12-0 with 5:29 left.

But the back-breaker for Keansburg was the Gulls’ two touchdowns as a result of turnovers in less than 20 seconds. Smith recovered a Keansburg fumble at the Titans’ 45, and Point beach moved it into the end zone quickly, with Frauenheim scoring the first of his touchdowns from 8 yards out to make it 18-0. The wind at Antrim School was whipping across the field and in the Point Beach kicker’s face the first quarter, playing havoc with the point-after kicks.
On Keansburg’s next play from scrimmage, Zack Schaller stepped in front of a pass by Ian Terry and was in the end zone for Point Beach almost before anyone realized what had happened. The successful PAT made it 25-0, and the Gulls weren’t looking back.
James Liotta scored a 3-yard touchdown in the second quarter for Point Beach, and Frauenheim added a 5-yard touchdown early in the second half to finish off the scoring, as coach John Wagner emptied his bench.
Point Pleasant Beach hosts Highland Park next Friday at 7 p.m.
