Senior softball players wanted
Point Pleasant-area players 60 & up are sought for weekday morning games

Senior softball league’s
player try-outs April 11
Ocean County is home to many senior citizens, and some of them are literally “off their rockers!” They’re not “couch potatoes“ either – because they play softball.
The county’s largest senior softball league has nearly 150 players from age 55 into their 80s. They participate in a healthy activity, having fun and being competitive on the diamond.
Additional Point-area players are being sought for the Berkeley Senior Softball League, which includes residents of many Ocean County towns. Try-outs will be held on April 11th at Whispering Pines Park in Holiday City South, off Route 37.

There, and at Veterans Park in Bayville, the league’s spring-summer season will open on April 28th. The “slow-pitch” (but fast-paced) games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Spectators are welcome.
The minimum age is 55 for Berkeley residents and 60 for other Ocean County residents. Both men and women may participate, but last year all players were men.

A separate division for players born in 1950 and earlier will play doubleheaders on Friday mornings. It has no county residency requirement.
